The Autumn Equinox marks the arrival of the season of Fall, traditionally seen as a period of changes leading to The Dark of Winter. It comes after the Harvest Moon which is the first Full Moon of the season.
Fall is a season for balancing light and dark, letting go, and accepting the impermanence of things.
Balancing Darkness with the Light
On the Autumn Equinox, day and night are of equal length. This signals the need to balance light and darkness within us.
Autumn is a time for letting go and releasing things that have been a burden. Fall is a great time to allow Spirit take charge of our lives and so we practice letting go of control.
Autumn reminds us of the impermanence of everything. The leaves fall and the bare branches remind us of the fleeting nature of all things.
Fall reminds us to live every day to the fullest as there are no guarantees of tomorrow.
This brings to mind a powerful prayer that seems perfect to affirm during the Autumn Equinox .
